About the Festival

Le Corps en Mouvement (The Body in Motion) is a premier international traveling festival and research platform dedicated to the study of the human body as a dynamic, situated, and ever-evolving entity.

Founded on the principle that the body is not merely a biological fact but a crossroads of social, political, and aesthetic forces, the festival serves as a vital bridge between academic inquiry, artistic creation, and embodied practices.

We believe that to understand the body is to understand the world; therefore, our mission is to interrogate the physical form as a site of both profound constraint and infinite possibility.

Core Philosophy: The Body as Flux

The festival is rooted in the concept of "The Body in Motion." This does not refer solely to physical locomotion, but to the body’s state of perpetual transformation. We explore the body through three primary lenses:

Biological & Temporal

Examining the transitions of birth, growth, aging, and decay.

Social & Political

Analyzing how bodies are monitored, regulated, and politicized by institutions and norms.

Aesthetic & Performative

Celebrating the body as a medium of expression that can subvert language and redefine space.

A Traveling Laboratory

Unlike traditional static festivals, Le Corps en Mouvement is nomadic. Our traveling format is a deliberate choice that mirrors our subject matter. By moving across different cultural and geographical landscapes, the festival:

Promotes Intercultural Dialogue

Each location brings new perspectives, histories, and bodily traditions to the conversation.

Democratizes Knowledge

We bring high-level academic research and avant-garde art to diverse communities, fostering a non-hierarchical exchange of ideas.

Furthermore, this format reflects global mobility. We examine how migration, exile, and displacement reshape the physical and psychological identity of the individual.

The Integrated Format

Each edition of the festival is structured around a specific thematic focus and features a multifaceted program designed to engage the mind and the senses:
